This is me, with an amazing view of the center of Rotterdam. Photo Credits: Chu Alley

One of the things I love the most about Rotterdam are all the events that are happening, especially during summer! June is the "architectural month", in which the city offers different activities and events related to architecture and the built environment. And the best thing is that these type of events are not only for architects to enjoy. In fact, many families also go out and take their children to learn and explore the city they live in. On the 2nd and 3rd of June it was the "Rotterdamse Dakendagen" or Rooftop day festival. Basically it is two days in which some of the nicests rooftops of the city are open to public and host some activities, such as dancing, drinks, games or just offer a perfect spot for taking photos of the city.

I find this really amazing, because not only they open the roofs for the public, but they actually have something happening up there. And it's interesting because Rotterdam has been promoting green roofs as a strategy for climate adaptation, besides all the benefits society gets from it. If you are not familiar about the benefits of implementing green roofs in our cities, to can read more here: http://www.greenrooftechnology.com/advantages-of-green-roofs

I want to share my experience during this day with some photos and memories through a series of photo-posts. I have divided them into 3 themes: Views - Rythms - Functions.

If you feel interested in knowing more about this day, keep reading my posts and please comment if your city also offers interesting activities! I would love to hear about it!
