Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Studio Roosergaarde in Rotterdam and see one of the most innovative projects of the studio: the Smog Free tower. It works like a giant vacuum cleaner that takes polluted air of the city and releases clean air. What do they do with the pollution? They turn it into jewelry.
Having the chance to visit this projects and hear the stories behind them is very inspiring. You may have heard that the Netherlands is filled with innovation hubs and good ideas, and it's true! It is interesting, because here they have a very organized system and things are supposed to be done in a certain way (at least, most of the things).
However, there is always room for innovation. Here you can find many good and simple ideas that solve big issues; Studio Roosergaarde proposes several of them (see photos at the end), for example bicycle paths with solar panels, art installations to create awarness for climate change, new ways to generate energy for ilumination, etc. But there are many things going on in different fields, for example, circular economy, adaptation to climate change, urbanism, landscape design, creative industries, water safety and engineering. Do you work at one of these fields? Would you like to share some of the projects you are working now? Please comment, contact me or just sign up and write a post! Is very simple, and this is how we can start to grow our community!
